Egg-citing Easter Activities For Kids
Easter is fast approaching, so spring into action over the holidays with a whole host of things to do with the kids, indoors and outdoors! Here are a few ideas.
Indoor Activities For Kids
Let’s face it, British weather is unpredictable, especially in spring! With that in mind, we have shared a few of our favourite rainy day activities to keep your kids entertained indoors (if you need to) this Easter.
Challenge Each Other To A Games Marathon
Family game time gets a big tick from us! Board games are a great way to spend time together and also help children develop their strategic thinking and problem-solving skills. Our wooden Games Compendium includes four traditional board games for kids, including Snakes and Ladders, Draughts, Tiddly Winks and Tic Tac Toe.
Play Dress Up
Think up a fun role play plot and spend the afternoon acting out imaginary scenarios. Our new collection of dress up sets is now in stock, so your youngster can get to work on the construction site in our Builder Costume or save the neighbourhood from baddies in their Police Officer Fancy Dress. We have our wand-erful Princess Costume for enchanted little munchkins, an ultra-cool Scientist Dress Up for ickle Einsteins, and a Firefighter Kids Costume for pint-sized heroes.
Have A Baking Day
Wondering how you’re going to get through the mountain of chocolate eggs in your kitchen cupboards? Get baking! Cake-mad tots will look good enough to eat in their Kids Chef Outfit, while you help them whip up delicious Easter treats. Kids baking recipes like BBC Good Food’s Shredded Wheat Nests are super easy. For this one, all you need is chocolate, Shredded Wheat and some Mini Eggs. Try not to worry about the mess - the kitchen (and kids) are washable!
Get Creative With Kids Crafts
Look to guided craft kits for inspiration. Packed with supplies and easy-to-follow instructions, Tiger Tribe’s all-in-one activity sets are just the thing for creative kids this Easter. Take its Drawing Sets, where littlens can learn how to draw people or animals, or its Foil Art Kits for arty tots to design holographic masterpieces! All of Tiger Tribe’s DIY art sets are neatly packaged in a nifty storage box, making them stress-free for parents.
Build A Fort
Simple, but a winner with children, fort-building inspires hours of creative play! Move the furniture around, drape blankets over the top and voila, you've fashioned your own family fort, great for watching a film in or reading a book together. Maybe as a special treat, you could all eat dinner inside the den, too. If you don’t fancy making your own, snuggle up inside our Wooden Teepee (which you can also take outside when the sun comes back out).
Outdoor Activities For Kids
Alongside the much-loved Easter egg hunt, here are a few other outdoor activities you can enjoy with your little chicks over the Easter holidays.
Plant A Veggie Patch
Pick up our Children’s Gardening Caddy and spend some time in the great outdoors, teaching your toddler how to plant and look after their very own vegetable patch. Gardening is a fantastic sensory activity! While you’re outside, invite them to feel the texture of the mud and soil between their fingers, breathe in the fresh air, listen to the birds and watch their seeds grow.
Draw With Chalk
Get arty outdoors with our Chalk Eggs, an egg-sellent Easter gift for budding Banksys. The cute cardboard box comes with six eggs in pretty pastel shades, which you can use on pavements, patios or brick walls. Just hose it down to wash the chalk off, or wait for a rainy day! You could also use them for outdoor games, such as hopscotch or long jump.
Dine Al Fresco
Shake up the dinner-time routine and set up a picnic in the spring sunshine. Evenings are lighter now that the clocks have gone forward, so wrap up in blankets and make mealtimes fun this Easter. Alternatively, grab your tot’s favourite soft toys for a teddy bear’s picnic. Our pretend play Picnic Basket is perfect for the occasion, with wooden sandwiches, strawberries, apples and orange juice for the teddies to savour.
