8 Best Toy Trains For Kids

Get your dream wooden railway network back on track with our BRAND NEW toy train arrivals! Which one will be your new favourite? Let's take a look...

8. Drilling Toy Train

Mini train drivers are going to love this toy train! Part of our construction wooden train sets, the Bigjigs Rail Drilling Train can carry rubble and building materials along its rail route. The four magnetic wagons easily join together and are ready to alight in seconds! In case of an emergency stop, there's a buffer to catch any runaway carriages. It also comes with two handy pieces of track.

7. Ivatt Engine (Black)

The Ivatt Engine was designed by George Ivatt during the 1940s and 1950s for the London, Midlands and Scottish Railway. Intended for light duties, the Ivatt design had a lot of labour-saving features. The Bigjigs Rail Ivatt Engine comes with one piece of wooden track and a buffer. The magnetic couplings are compatible with all other toy trains and wagons in our wooden railway range. For a bright pop of colour, we also stock a Red Ivatt Engine.

6. Construction Train

It can be tiring on the building site but the Construction Train is here to save the day with the heavy lifting! Load the train up with cement, bricks and water to deliver to the construction workers at the end of the line. What are they building? A house? A train tunnel? You decide! Most major wooden railway brands are compatible with Bigjigs Rail.

5. Red Tractor and Wagon

Bring the farm and the railway together with this fantastic Tractor and Wagon toy train. Ideal for our Farm Train Set, busy hands can guide the hay bale wagon and tractor engine around their wooden railway. The Tractor and Wagon come with 3 pieces of mini track and of course the lift out hay bale for easy-peasy unloading. The magnetic couplings connect this farm train to any other carriages and wagons.

4. Mobile Workshop

Construction-mad little rascals will enjoy coming to the rescue with the vibrant Mobile Workshop train. Fold down the wagon to reveal all the tools that can help fix a broken train or piece of track. The magnetic couplings easily attach to other Bigjigs Rail engines or wagons. Comes with one track piece and buffer.

3. Lydia Engine

A classic wooden train, the Lydia Engine is ready for its next rail adventure. Coming in a bold blue shade with red wheels, this toy train is a real head-turner. Attach it to your other wagons, engines and carriages with the magnetic couplings for an action-packed adventure. Ideal for creative role play - where is the train heading to next?

2. Class 8 Diesel Shunter

Straight from the Bigjigs Rail Heritage collection, the Class 8 Diesel Shunter is a British Rail icon. Introduced onto the railways back in 1952, there are now only 100 working Class 8 locomotives on the main British Rail network today. Ideal for encouraging creative and imaginative role play as mini train drivers push their diesel engine around.

1. GWR Saddle Engine

Little train enthusiasts will be thrilled with the iconic GWR Saddle Tank Engine. Built in the early 1900s during the golden age of rail, this impressive toy train is just like the real thing. It even boasts the famous Great Western Railway shade of green and has small painted dots to mimic the robust bolts of the original design. The magnetic couplings easily connect it to other engines and wagons in the Bigjigs Rail range.
