“All About My Dad” Booklet

Making a booklet about all the reasons your Dad is great will make him feel super loved on Father’s Day. This gift is a classic DIY Father’s Day present because it’s inexpensive and shows just how much you care. Make your booklet into a little scrapbook of all your favourite memories with Dad, or get creative and draw all the family pictures.

What You’ll Need:

  • Card or paper (white paper is great, but you can mix it up with Dad’s favourite colours!)
  • Felt tips, markers, crayons
  • Scissors and tape/glue
  • Stapler or hole punch & string/ribbon (parents can supervise with this part!)
  • Photos of Dad and the family, funky stickers
  • Anything else you want to decorate with (pom poms, cutouts, glitter- if you’re brave enough to deal with the mess!)

Booklet Instructions

1. Create the cover

Put your title on the cover of the booklet, this could be “I Love My Dad”, “All About Daddy” or anything you want to display your love this Father’s Day. The writing part can be done by an adult if you have younger kiddos, but this is great way to get older kids to practice their handwriting. Once you’ve written the title, you can decorate with photos, stickers, paint and whatever you want.

2.Add fun & silly facts about Dad

Write a few fun facts about Dad to fill out on each page, such as  :

  • “My Dad is called…”

  • “His favourite food is…”

  • “I love my Dad because…”

  • “Dad is great at…”

3. Decorate the pages

Draw pictures of Dad and the family, add photos of you together and add decorations that match his interests. For example, if your Dad is football mad, you can add his favourite team’s badge to one of the pages!

4. Put the book together

Use a stapler to keep the booklet together, or use a hole punch and tie the booklet together with some string or ribbon for an extra special touch.

5. Final Touches

Finish up your booklet with a loving message to Dad. You can add your name at the end, a photo of the two of you or a painted handprint.

1.Choose a suitable mug

Pick a plain white mug that you can easily customise and that is suitable for painting on. These mugs are usually pretty budget-friendly so you don't have to spend a fortune on a fancy cup.

2.Map out your design

Draw out what your going to put on your on a piece of paper first if you're unsure about what to paint on it yet. You could draw a nice portrait of Dad, write 'Top Dad' on the mug or create a picture of his favourite animal.

3.Get painting!

Once you've decided on a design, you can use special paint pens to craft your Father's Day Mug. Go wild with lots of colour or keep it simple, it's up to you! Don't forget to sign your cup so Dad knows it was lovingly made by you.

4.Leave to dry

Let the paint dry on its own or bake in the oven to make the design last (adults this is your job!). Always follow the brand's instructions when painting your own mug as different mugs may vary.

5.Wrap your present

When your mug has fully dried, place it in a box and cover in wrapping paper. Get extra creative with your own paper design and add a bow to finish.
