Bigjigs Toys Exclusive to Newbie and Me Baby Store

We're excited to announce that the Newbie and Me baby store in Crewe has added an exclusive Bigjigs Toys toy shop to its offering. Newbie and Me is an independent family-run baby store that first opened in 2017 with a mission to provide a seamless shopping experience for parents and parents-to-be.

Newbie and Me sell premium-quality pushchairs, car seats, nursery furniture, and baby essentials, and have shops in Telford, Leeds, and Crewe. Newbie and Me are exclusively stocking Bigjigs Toys wooden toys as well as some of our lovely distribution brands.

We chatted with Aqeel Karim, Director of Newbie and Me, to find out more about their journey so far.

How did you get started with Newbie and Me?

After having my beautiful second child, I was disappointed with the experience of nursery shopping, and I thought about opening my own store. In 2017, I took the leap and opened the first store in Crewe. Later my brother joined the business and now runs it with me.

What's different about Newbie and Me?

We are a family-run store and understand what it's like to become a parent for the first, second, or third time. Our stores offer a wide range of popular products and we back this up with the experience; on-site parking to boot-test prams and offer car seat fittings, a test track in-store for customers to try prams on, and much more. We are also very active on social media and create content to help guide parents to the right product for them.

What's your proudest Newbie and Me moment?

A difficult one to answer. There are many proud moments - from selling our first pram in Crewe, to opening our third flagship store in Leeds.

What was the biggest challenge Newbie and Me faced? How did you overcome it?

The hardest challenge, as for many businesses, was adapting to how we operated during the national lockdown. Thankfully, we had already established ourselves on social media, which was a great driver to still be able to communicate and get prams, car seats, etc to customers. We started to offer virtual appointments instead of physical appointments and set up a collection area outside the shop.

What product categories do you stock and what are your bestsellers?

We are heavily focused on newborn nursery products, such as Travel Systems, Prams, Strollers, Car Seats, and Furniture Sets. Some of the top brands we sell are Egg2, iCandy, Silver Cross, Cybex, Joolz, Joie, and Maxi-Cosi.

What drew you to Bigjigs Toys?

We want to offer something different and attract new customers. Bigjigs Toys is the ideal fit as we love the wooden toys and the range Bigjigs offer.

What are your favourite Bigjigs Toys products and why?

For me, it's the Bigjigs Rail collection. I think as a kid I would have loved to collect something like this.

What's next for Newbie and Me?

We aim to carry on taking over the world of social media, building our online presence, and Don't be surprised if you see a few more shops popping up all over the country!
