History

No.323 Bluebell is a P Class Tank Engine and was built in 1910 to pull small passenger trains. The Bluebell Railway was part of the route from Lewes to East Grinstead which opened in 1882 but the line was shut in March 1958.

Bluebell arrived at the Bluebell Railway in 1960 and made history by pulling the first passenger train, the first line to be reopened as a preserved standard gauge railway, run by volunteers.

The original Bluebell can be seen at The Bluebell Railway, Sheffield Park Station, East Sussex, TN22 3QL England T: +44 (0)1825 720800 W: www.bluebellrailway.co.uk
